What is the Index Server?
Index Server is a service run on our server that searches specified folders on the hard drive.

What does it search?
It searches your folder.  You can specify in the default.asp page in the /search/ folder exactly which folders you want to search, but our server begins in your root.

Can it search the Internet?
No, it is only for the one website hosted on this one server.

How do I get the service set up on my site?
Plan B accounts receive an index server search on their websites.  All you need to do is log in to the control panel with your domain name and password.  You will come to a screen listing all of the features available to you.  Click on Add Index Search.  It usually takes about 24 hours for our technicians to set up and test your index server.

Do I have to buy any special programs?
We set up a sample folder called /search in your root folder.  The script on default.asp has the code you will need to establish

There are services that offer searches on my site.  How are they different?
The services that offer searches are located on other servers.  They act like web crawlers or search engines by inspecting your site, including links and graphics.

What do I do if I want the server to search only a sub-folder?
Open the default page in your secure folder using NotePad.  About 15 lines down you will find this code-

If IsEmpty(Request.Form("Scope")) AND IsEmpty(Request.QueryString("Scope")) Then
SearchScope = "/"
End If

In the "/" place the path of the subfolder you want searched.  For example, /faqs would search only the faqs subfolder.

Sometimes the server needs to be reset. If you are querying for a word you know is on your site but you receive no response or you receive millions because the server is indexing the entire wwwroot, please contact us because we need to make an adjustment to the settings of your catalog.
